Youth News!

This past Sunday, before the Super Bowl, Beverly Cain and I met at Massillon First UMC with Todd Browning and Pastor Julia Wertz.  The subject of our conversation was our respective youth groups.  For months now my children (who represent a large percentage of our youth group) have been meeting regularly with the youth from First UMC and Timmy Armstrong has tagged along with them once or twice as well.  Along the way one of the kids asked if we could make some kind of "official arrangement" between our groups.  After discussions with Bev, Todd, Pastor Julia and our respective church boards, everyone seemed to think this was a great idea so finally on Sunday we got everyone in the same room to see what that "official arrangement" might look like, which brings us to the big announcement...

Trinity Church now "officially" has a youth group that meets every Sunday at 6:00 pm. at First UMC in Massillon (the big stone church downtown on Lincoln Way).  On the fourth Sunday each month the group will meet at Trinity.  We have committed to providing at least one adult from Trinity each week.  In the near-term, Beverly and I will make sure that at least one of us can attend but in the long-term, we would appreciate a few folks that we can call upon to attend when we have other commitments.  Likewise, I would like to have a few folks who are willing to be here once a month when we host the group so that we can offer a program of some sort, snacks, or just a bit of extra crowd control.  For my part, I have agreed to share a Bible study and lead a group discussion periodically.

All of us are excited about this new arrangement.  The folk from Massillon First UMC are pleased that they will be getting some additional adults to help and now, if anyone asks, Trinity has a youth group that has regular, weekly, meetings.  This is good news for all of us.  Please help us to spread the news!

  1. We are so happy that Trinity has joined us at First, the youth has enjoyed the union of the two churches as much as the adults I think...lol...and Beverly you do a great job with the Bible studies and we are so thankful to have you, I know the youth enjoy them as much as I do. Thank you Jesus for bringing us together....Janice Jeter
